About the North Grenville Curling Club
History

The North Grenville Curling Club was originally founded in September 1989 as the Kemptville & District Curling Association. This was well before the amalgamation ot Kemptville, South Gower and Oxford-on-Rideau and the eventual change of the area's name to the Municipality of North Grenville. In four short months, from November 1989 t=through to February 1990, the Association attracted 160 members.

With the development of the North Grenville Municipal Centre the opportunity to establish a curling facility in the old hockey area began to develop. After several years of discussions with the municipality and agreement was established in the spring of 2005 and the keys to the facility were received on June 1, 2005. After that a dedicated team of volunteers worked many hard hours at refurbishing the facility for the successful fall 2005 grand opening.

The North Grenville Curling Club appreciates the support of The Ontario Trillium Foundation grant which allowed the purchase proper-sized stones for youth curlers and an ice scraper to enhance the quality of the ice surface for the enjoyment of all curlers in the community.
