DEFIBRILLATOR at NGCC. Thanks to the offices of the EMS at Brockville our club now has this equipment on hand and ready for use should the need arise. Twenty plus members attended a training session early in January. Others may be trained as the year progresses,in that we have at least one member who has extended training in the utilization of this device and CPR.

METCALFE CC FRIENDLY; On Saturday Jan.12 upwards of 40 members of the Metcalfe Club descended upon NGCC for a day of curling and an evening of socializing. The event was a planned Pot luck dinner followed by a dance. The band was a big hit, tremendously entertaining. Metcalfe curlers won the newly established Rideau/Castor Cup by beating our curlers by a few poiints in total.
Needless to say they celebrated in an appropriate fashion/drinking from the cup. The second place group had its own celebration. Next year's version will be held at Metcalfe. Date to be determined.
NGCC members looking for a good time should check out the date of this activity in next year's members handbook.

ROYAL JUBILEE COMPETITION FINALS: NGCC hosted this event on the weekend of the 18,19,20 of January. Sixteen mens teams from eastern Ontario and Quebec(8 from each sector) played a series of games to determine Section A,B,C winners. Three Ontario teams finished on top of each section. Winchester CC won the C event, Richmond CC won the B event, while two NGCC competed in the main event for the Royal Jubilee Trophy(Which has been played for since 1898).
Rinks skipped by Dave Brown and Jeremy MacDonald reached the main final which was played on Sunday the 20th in front of an enthusiastic crowd of members and guests. Dave's rink included Steve Dunne, Brian Tuor, and Darcy Dunne. Jeremy's rink comprised of Mike O'Brien, Robert Kluke and JIm Albers. Both teams went undefeated through three games to reach the final. Jeremy's team was successful in the final ,but NGCC was the real winner in that our club established itself as a club to be reckoned with in future competitions. Our club can expect to receive a banner to hang in the club to signify our success in this event.
The visiting curlers were high in their praise of our facility and marveled at our success to date.

"STANLEY" CUP COMPETITION: A week prior to the Jubilee a ladies team represented NGCC in a Ladies Curling Association competition in Arnprior for curlers with less than five year's experience. The team of Crystal Foster, skip, Maureen Sloan, Nelly Van Berlo, and Bev Guy won the competition by defeating a former winner and runner-up teams. Well done ,Ladies. The Trophy looks great in the club cabinet.

PRESIDENTS DAY MEMBERS SPIEL: This event is planned for Sat. Feb. 16. Include in the program will be the Little Rockers and Bantams in the AM, and adult members in the PM.
